The 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid was named the Green Car Journal's 2008 Green Car of the Year. The award was presented at the Los Angeles Auto Show.

"This is a milestone in many respects," Green Car Journal editor and publisher Ron Cogan said. "People don’t think 'green' when SUVs are concerned, and for generally good reason since SUVs often get poor fuel economy compared to most other vehicles. Chevrolet’s Tahoe Hybrid changes this dynamic."

The 2007 show feature 14 world debuts and nearly 30 North American debuts.

"The show's new fall dates now make Los Angeles the first major North American stop of the auto show season, and as anticipated, manufacturers have taken advantage of this earlier timing by making more World and North American debuts than in previous years," Andy Fuzesi, general manager of the LA Auto Show, said prior to the 2007 show.

Some of the debuts included Hyundai's new sports car concept, Nissan's all-new, mid-size Murano crossover and Volkswagen's new mini-car concept design.

Among the vehicles making their first appearance on U.S. soil were the new Jaguar XF luxury performance sedan and the new BMW 1 Series coupe.

The most expensive new vehicle to make its U.S. debut was the $1.4 million Lamborghini Reventon, hailed as the most powerful and expensive Lamborghini ever built. Ferrari debuted its new lightweight 430 Scuderia, Bentley showcased its new and more powerful Continental GT Speed, and Porsche debuted its most powerful 911, the new GT2.
