POSTED: 10:54 pm EST December 22, 2008

(Sports Network) - Curtis Jerrells recorded a triple-double with 17 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists, as the 21st-ranked Baylor Bears fended off Hartford, 74-59.

Henry Dugat had 16 points and four steals for the Bears (10-1), winners of four straight. Tweety Carter and LaceDarius Dunn both chipped in 14 points, while Kevin Rogers added 11.

Jaret von Rosenberg poured in a game-high 19 points, dished out nine assists and grabbed six rebounds for the Hawks (4-8), who have dropped three of their last four games.

Baylor opened the second half with 7-0 burst to go up 39-26. After the Hawks rattled off six straight points, the Bears countered with a 6-0 run of their own to grab a 45-32 lead less than five minutes into the stanza.

A von Rosenberg basket with 9:15 remaining drew Hartford to within three at 54-51, but a jumper by Jerrells pushed the margin back to double-digits at 63-53 with 4:44 left.

Hartford scored five unanswered points to close within 63-58, but the Hawks would get no closer the rest of the way as the Bears secured the win from the foul line.

The Hawks hung around at the beginning, tying the game at 10-10 on a Genesis Maciel layup near the six-minute mark, but Baylor scored eight straight points and led 28-15 with 4:38 remaining in the opening frame after Jerrells made a pair from the charity stripe.

Hartford, though, refused to go away and whittled the deficit to 32-26 at the break.
