POSTED: 9:50 pm EST December 30, 2005

Hilton Armstrong went 11-of-14 from the field and scored a career-high 26 points while also grabbing 10 rebounds, as the second-ranked Connecticut Huskies destroyed the Quinnipiac Bobcats, 111-75, at the Hartford Civic Center.

Rashad Anderson netted 20 points and Marcus Johnson had 17 for the Huskies (11-0), who have won their first 11 games of the season for the fourth time under head coach Jim Calhoun.

John Winchester tallied a career-high 25 points and Chris Wehye added 16 for Quinnipiac (5-5), which has lost three of its last four games.

The Bobcats led the game 22-16 with around 13 minutes left in the first half after hitting consecutive shots from beyond the arc from Wehye and Winchester.

However, Connecticut used a 12-5 run, capped by Anderson's shot from long distance, to grab a 28-27 edge moments later.

Quinnipiac was able to stay within striking distance and even held a four- point lead with 7 1/2 minutes left in the first half, but the Huskies grabbed a 36-35 lead in the waning minutes.

Connecticut then quickly put the game out of reach by closing the stanza with a 10-0 spurt to grab a 46-35 edge at the intermission.

The Huskies opened up the second half on a 20-5 run, keyed by three consecutive baskets from Armstrong, to take a 26-point lead,

Quinnipiac never threatened again and proved to be no match for the Big East powerhouse as it suffered the lopsided 36-point setback.

UConn's drubbing came without the services of leading scorer Rudy Gay, who sat out with a sprained ankle.

Game Notes:

Connecticut shot 59.2 percent from the floor, compared to Quinnipiac, which connected on 41.4 percent of its shots...The Huskies won the rebounding battle, 47-31, and collected nine blocks...Anderson scored in double figures for the ninth straight game.
