NCAA Game Summary - West Virginia At Louisville

(Sports Network) - Pat White ran for three touchdowns and passed for two more as the West Virginia Mountaineers posted a 35-21 win over the Louisville Cardinals in Big East Conference action at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium.

White raced for an even 200 yards on 21 carries for the Mountaineers (7-3, 4-1 Big East) as they won for the sixth time in the last seven outings. White also converted 6-of-11 passing for another 122 yards on the afternoon.

The Cardinals (5-6, 1-5) were paced by Hunter Cantwell who connected on 27- of-47 for 276 yards and a score, but he was also sacked three times and was guilty of three interceptions.

Louisville put the first points on the board at the 1:53 mark of the first quarter when Bilal Powell hit the end zone from a yard out.

From there the Mountaineers scored three straight touchdowns, beginning with a White 66-yard run with nine seconds remaining in the opening period, sending the teams into the break locked at 7-7 following a scoreless second quarter.

Less than two minutes into the second half White found Dorrell Jalloh with a 28-yard TD strike, followed by a 43-yard scoring run by White to make the score 21-7.

The Cardinals broke up the WVU scoring streak when Brock Bolen posted a five- yard touchdown run, cutting the deficit to seven points at 21-14.

White then posted a seven-yard TD run and hit Jock Sanders with a 25-yard scoring pass to extend the advantage to 35-14.

With 5:56 remaining in the contest Cantwell capped a seven-play, 65-yard drive with a 17-yard TD pass to Josh Chichester, leaving the Mountaineers with the 14-point road win.

Despite running 33 fewer plays, West Virginia outgained the home team, 498-474.

During the game White became the NCAA's all-time leader in rushing by a quarterback, surpassing Brad Smith of Missouri who held the record with 4,289 yards.
