The screening will provide information on anorexia nervosa, bulimia and binge eating disorders. Nearly 10 million women and one million men are affected by the disorder. Art by Sandy PariskyThe opening reception for Paintings and Travel Sketches by Sandy Parisky will be held at 5:30 p.m, March 1, 2007, at the Charter Oak Cultural Center, 21 Charter Oak Avenue, Hartford. Parisky works in pastel, gouache, watercolor and acrylic mediums and includes architecute, landscapes and still-life compositions. The exhibit runs through April 27, 2007. Art Exhibit in TorringtonBest in the Northwest, Student and Teacher Art Exhibit, will be featured at Artwell Gallery, 19 Water Street, Torrington, March 1 to 18, 2007. ’Gathering Shells’ in HamdenQuinnipiac University Theater for the Community, will present an original play, “Gathering Shells,” February 28 to March 4, 2007, at the Long Wharf Theatre, Stage II, New Haven. Brian and Allan Garry, Vietnam veteran and poet, wrote the script loosely based on Stephen Crane’s novel, “The Red Badge of Courage.” Quinnipiac students, alumni, faculty members and veterans of the Homefront Theater Company of West Haven Veteran Affairs will perform. ”Honk” the Musical in WethersfieldThe Wethersfield High School Drama Department presents “Honk,” the Olivier Award-Winning musical which tells the story of the Ugly Duckling. It will be held March 2, 3, 9 and 10 at 7:30 p.m., and at 3:30 p.m., March 4, 2007, at the school, 411 Wolcott Hill Road, Wethersfield. A cast of 50 high school students and 40 elementary school students sing and dance to such tunes as “The Joy of Motherhood,” “Warts and All,” and “You Can Play with Your Food.” Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for senior citizens and students.

Walk for Warmth in MeridenThe 17th annual Walk for Warmth will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., March 3, 2007, from First Congregational Church in Meriden. Sponsored by New Opportunities for Greater Meriden, this fund-raiser is a mini parade to raise money for energy assistance for Meriden, Wallingford, Southington, Plantsville and Berlin residents. Women's Conference in HamdenAuthor Francine Prose will deliver the keynote address at Quinnipiac University's Women's Creativity Conference March 3 in the Clarice L. Dinner to Benefit Robotics TeamA ziti dinner to benefit the Watertown High School Robotics Team 237 will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., March 8, 2007, at Union Congregational Church, Buckingham Street, Oakville. Sweet Honey in the RockSweet Honey in the Rock, a cappella ensemble, is coming to Hartford to a concert at 7:30 p.m., March 8, 2007, at Immanuel Congregational Church, Farmington Avenue and Woodland Street, Hartford. Future of Cuba Talk"The Future of Cuba in a Post-Fidel Castro Era" will be presented by Brian Latell, a former CIA analyst who has advised US presidents and congressional leaders about Cuba and the Fidel Castro regime.
