Holiday Bazaar in Waterbury A Holiday Bazaar will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., December 1, 2007, at Kaynor Technical High School in Waterbury. There will be pictures with Santa, a children’s craft corner, holiday gifts and food from the Taste of Kaynor restaurant.

Scholastic Book Fair The Hanover School in conjunction with Christmas in the Village will hold its annual Scholastic Book Fair from noon to 6:30 p.m., December 1, 2007, at the school, 208 South Main Street, South Meriden. This year the PTO will be selling poinsettias, hotdogs, hot soup, cookies, pie slices and hot chocolate. Clifford, the Big Red Dog, will sign books from 1 to 3 p.m. Bring a non-perishable food item to be donated to the local foodbank.

New Exhibit at Artwell Artwell Gallery and Community Arts Center, 19 Water Street, Torrington, will host a new exhibit "Tamed" with a reception from 6 to 7 p.m., December 1, 2007. The bazaar will feature a bake sale with homemade cookies, pies, cakes, breads and more; a food sale on Saturday with take-out main dishes; a Saturday luncheon from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.. There will also be hand-knit items such as hats, mittens, scrafs, afghans as well as puzzles, toys, and holiday decorations.

Pet Photos with Santa Pet photos with Santa will be taken from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., December 1, 2007, at Petco, 955 Ferry Blvd., Stratford. Photos are $7 each or two for $10 and proceeds benefit the Northeast Rottweiller Rescue and Referral Inc., to help with the recuperation and rehoming proceeds of the abused and homeless dogs. YWCA Holiday Fair The YWCA Holiday Craft Fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., December 1, 2007, at the YWCA, 78 North Main Street, Manchester. There will be some 40 vendors and crafters at the fair and the event will include baked goods, Scholastic book fair, children's crafts to make and take, games, free gift wrapping and a visit from Santa. Holiday Sale in Suffield The Suffield Regional Agriculture Center Holiday Sale will be held weekdays through December 14, 2007, at the school in West Suffield. Featured will be fresh balsam wreaths, floral arrangments, cemetery arrangments and holiday plants. The items are grown, constructed and decorated as a cooperatively-run market business. Profits are used by the FFA Chapter to conduct activities and benefit various awards programs. Information, www.suffield,org.

'The Laramie Project' "The Laramie Project" will be presented at 7: 3 p.m., December 1, 2007, at Asnuntuck Community College, 170 Elm Street, Enfield. The story is about the community of Laramie, Wyoming, and its reaction to the death of Matthew Shepard, a student who was kidnapped, beaten and left to die, tied to a fence, on the outskirts of Laramie. Christmas Bazaar in Bethany Bethany Congregational Church will hold a Christmas Bazaar from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., December 1, 2007, at the church, 511 Amity Road, Bethany. There will be fresh wreaths and greens, blooming poinsettias and amarylli, handcrafted items, aromatherapy bath salts, woodworking, jewelry, scraves, Christmas ornaments, jams and jellies, fudge, candy, Christmas cookies, breads and cakes, a special gingerbread decorating station available for children, hot coffee, apple cider, egg sandwiches and donuts for breakfast and a variety of hot soups, bread and more for lunch. Non-Perishable Food Drive A non-perishable food drive will be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Mondays through Saturdays, through December 20, 2007, at Zemels, 67 Newtown Road, Danbury. Holiday House Tour A Holiday House Tour of homes in the Federal Hill section of Bristol will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., December 1, 2007, sponsored by Quota International of Bristol. This is a non-guided tour of five homes and admission includes a visit to the American Clock and Watch Museum and the Bristol Historical Society and its Christmas Bazaar. Ticket price is $15 and tickets can be purchased at The Chalkboard on North Main Street, CV Mason on East Street, Plainville, the Chamber of Commerce on Main Street and The Windsor Shop, East Street, Plainville. Toys for Tots Dill, Joyce and Thresher will join with Toys for Tots to hold a holiday toy drive and Christmas party from noon to 4 p.m., December 1, 2007, at the DJT Office, 19 Ensign Drive, Avon. Breakfast with Santa at Kids' Camp A Breakfast with Santa at the Channel 3 Kids' Camp will be held at 8, 9:30 and 10:30 a.m., December 1, 2007. The camp is located at 73 Times Farm Road in Andover and the cost is $8 per person. The menu includes homemade pancakes, home fries, sausage, pastries, fresh fruit, and beverages, Children will have the opportunity to visit with Santa and pose for a picture. Child Safety Clinic A Child Passenger Safety Clinic and Stuff a Cruiser Gift Drive will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., December 1, 2007, at the New Milford Wal-Mart, 164 Danbury Road, New Milford. Certified technicians will check/install child safety seats free of charge. The New Milford High School Key Club will be on hand to accept new, unwrapped gifts for needy children and youths, ages 1 through 17 for distribution throughout the New Milford area. Christmas Bazaar in New Britain A Giant Christmas Bazaar will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., December 1, 2007, at St. Matthew's Church, 87 Franklin Square, New Britain, parking off the Glen Street entrance. Featured will be Christmas cookies, home-baked goods, candies, unique decorations, attic treasures, plants, jewelry, breakfast sandwiches, German and American food, desserts, beverages. Children's Holiday Festival The annual Children's Holiday Festival will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., December 1, 2007, at the Lebanon Congregational Church, on the Green in Lebanon. Sponsored by the Lebanon Cooperative Nursery School, the event features fun for the whole family including food, crafts, face-painting, games, pictures with Santa, a children's gift shop,. silent auction and holiday plants and vendors. Santa Visit in Kensington Santa will visit the New Britain Youth Museum from 2 to 4 p.m., December 1, 2007. The museum is located at Hungerford Park, 191 Farmingtn Avneue, kensington. Children may visit with Santa, enjoy refreshments and shop in the gift shop. No registration is required. Admission is $5 for aduilts and $3 for children ages 2 to 12 with those under 2 free.

'A Rose Among Thorns' "A Rose Among Thorns," a tribute to Rosa Parks, will be held at 6 p.m., December 1, 2007, at the Wexler Grant School Auditorium, New Haven. The program is free and honors the legacy of Rosa Parks and seeks to inspire all to social action. This is one-woman dramatic tribute and stars Ella Joyce. Candy Cane Carnival Trinity Nursery School's annual Candy Cane Carnival will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., December 1, 2007, at the nursery school, 55 River Road, Collinsville. Admission is free. National Adoption Month November is National Adoption Month and to recognize this, the Great Wall China Adoption will host an information session on Chinese adoptions. Learn about China’s eligibility requirements, the home study process, and meet some families with their children who have completed their Chinese adoptions. Craft Fair, Santa Breakfast The Chaplin Craft Fair and Breakfast with Santa will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., December 1, 2007, at the Chaplin Elementary School, 240 Palmer Road, Chaplin, sponsored by the Chaplin PTO. Admission is free. There will be over 35 crafters for one-stop shopping. In addition, visitors may create, stuff and dress a collectible stuffed animal, meet an author, discover perfect jewelry. Winterfest in Ellington The town of Ellington will celebrate its fourth annual Winterfest from 4 to 7 p.m., December 1, 2007, on the gazebo green at routes 286 and 140, Main Street. The event will feature a visit from Frosty the Snowman and Santa and Mrs. Claus, a tree-lighting ceremony, a torchlight parade down Main Street, entertainment and refreshments. YWCA Craft Fair The YWCA Craft Fair will be held at the Community Y Building, 78 North Main Street, Manchester, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., December 1, 2007. There will be a variety of crafters, vendors, bake sale, Scholastic Book Fair, free gift wrapping, gift basket raffles, children’s activities including games, make and take crafts and a visit from Santa. Basketmaking at UConn Baskets are both functional and beautiful and have been part of human culture worldwide from prehistory to the present. Pancake Breakfast in Plainfield A Pancake Breakfast will be served from 7 to 11 a.m., December 2, 2007, at the Plainfield Senior Center, Route 12, Plainfield. The cost is $3 for seniors and children, $4 for adults. The menu includes pancakes with sausage. Proceeds benefit the sight-saving work of the Plainfield Lions Club. Mitzvah Mall in Hartford The Mitzvah Mall at the Charter Oak Cultural Center, 21 Charter Oak Avenue, Hartford, will provide young people with a chance to purchase meaningful gifts. It will be open from 2 to 4:30 p.m., December 2, 2007. The mall is an opportunity to buy crayons for an after-school program, toys for hospitalized children, food for a homeless person or clothes for a victim of domestic violence in a friend’s or relative’s name. Rockin' with Rashana Agrawal Rashana Agrawal is an Indian native, dancer, singer, artist and published author who will perform technical aspects of Kathak dance consisting of intensive footwork, and a variety of spins. 'It's a Wonderful Life' The classic film, "It's a Wonderful Life," will be presented at 7 p.m., December 3, 2007, in the Bruyette Athenaeum on the campus of St. Joseph College, 1678 Asylum Avenue, West Hartford. Community Chanukah Celebration The Chabad Jewish Center will hold an open-to-all holiday event celebrating the feast of Chanukah, on the third evening of the holiday, at 5:30 p.m., December 6, 2007, at Union Park in downtown Middletown. Ahavah-A Christmas Mystere! Come and experience the inspirational story of Ahavah - A Christmas Mystere! at 7 p.m., December 7 and 8, 2007, at Haddam-Killlingworth High School, Little City Road, Higganum. The Christmas story comes to life as angels escort a young girl to a foreign ruler has taken over and put a curse on all the people. Christmas Concert in Broad Brook A Christmas Concert to benefit the Opera House Players will be held at 8 pm., December 7 and 8, 2007, at the Broad Brook Opera House. The concert will feature New York City singer and songwriter Cassandra Kubinski, who got her start at the opera house. In addition, state acoustic duo Columbia Fields will open on December 7 and New York City jazz/rock singer and songwriter James Adamo will open on December 8.

Holiday Benefit Concert A holiday concert to benefit the Forgotten Angels Sanctuary will be held at 7:30 p.m., December 8, 2007, at the Norwich Grange Main Hall. Parking is available at the bowling alley lot. Admission is a goodwill donation with all proceeds to benefit the staggering cost of running the sanctuary. Pianist Walter R. Brown will provide the music while holiday poems will be read by local poet Patrick McGowan. Seating is limited.

Fill a Fire Truck Fill a Fire Truck with Toys will be held from 4 to 8 p.m., December 7, and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., December 8, 2007, at the Yalesville Fire Department, 143 Hope Hill Road. All unwrapped new toys will be donated to and distributed by the Wallingford Holiday for Giving Committee.

Breakfast with Santa The Colebrook Congregational Church will host Breakfast with Santa from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m., December 8, 2007, at the church n Colebrook Center. Free Model Train Show A free Model Train Show will b e held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., December 8, and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., December 9, 2007, at Torrington City Hall, 140 Main Street, Torrington, sponsored by Torrington Area Model Railroaders. On display will be three train layouts, the N scale, HO scale and G scale. Club members will operate trains, demonstrate model railroading techniques and be available to answer questions. Children will be able to build an HO scale freight car and run it on the model railroad and take it home. Supplies of the kits are limited.

Box Turtle Artwork The debut of Bobby the Box Turtle’s Artwork will be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., December 8 and 9, 2007, at Frame Dimensions, 995 Farmington Avenue, West Hartford. There is no admission charge. Bobby will be present during the afternoons of both days to meet both art and turtle loves. Any proceeds benefit the Children Museum and it is hoped that Bobby’s artwork will raise awareness of the risks currently faced by box turtles in Connecticut. Nature Center Fundraiser A Blue Tulip Fundraiser to benefit the Children’s Museum and the Roaring Brook Nature Center will be held from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., December 8, 2007, at the Blue Tulip, Shoppes at Farmington Valley, Route 44, Canton. Butler-McCook House Tour On December 8, 2007, from 10 a.m. to noon, the Butler-McCook House, Main Street, Hartford, will be open for tours. The house is Hartford’s oldest house and was home to four generations of the same family and explores three centuries of life in Hartford.
