Twin Brothers Named Co-Valedictorians

Fermi High To Graduate Three Sets Of Twins

While it’s not unusual for a high school to have twins graduating as seniors, Enrico Fermi High School in Enfield will be graduating three sets of twins this spring.

One of the three sets is the school’s co-valedictorians.

When Spencer and Tyler Reese graduate from Fermi High School, they will be joined by twins Tyler and Travis Lombardi and Stacey and Karen Suleski,

“It has it’s ups and downs, but overall, I think it’s a good thing, you experience things other people can’t,” said Travis Lombardi.

The Reese twins have the added distinction of be co-valedictorians, which came as a surprise to the brothers.

“We really didn’t, we really weren’t competing against each other, we were just trying to get the best grades we possibly could for ourselves,” said Tyler Reese. “In the end, it turns out we have actually the same GPA out to the fifth decimal place.”

Both of the brothers have a wide variety of interests, including a love of music, where Tyler’s weapon of choice is the trumpet. Spencer leans more toward the piano and vocal performance.

Spencer said having a twin has been a bonus in life for him.

“For one thing, you always have someone to talk to or play with while you’re younger, but sometimes you’re lumped together as twins and not seen as individuals. There’s definitely more upsides than downsides,” he said.

The brothers’ parents said they weren’t so surprised when their sons tied as co-valedictorians.

“I knew they’d be very way, way up there in class rank, I didn’t know they’d be tied. They’re hard workers and very conscientious,” said their mother, Sue Reese.

Both Tyler and Spencer are headed to the University of Connecticut in the fall on Nutmeg Scholarships.
