SOMERS, Conn. -- This year, Somers High School will have not one, but two valedictorians. The grade point averages for the top two students are identical, just like the students themselves.Twin sisters Justine and Lauryn Falcone received the news that they would be co-valedictorians a couple of weeks ago.“I guess I don’t see it as being really shocking,” said Lauryn Falcone. “When we heard the news, we were like, ‘OK, that’s cool.’ ”Lauryn said her and her sister have worked their way to the top of their class together.“I think the reason that we both are such good students is because we help each other,” she said. “I don’t think that we necessarily are always trying to compete with each other, but we’re more like giving one another help.”The sisters’ parents said that over the years they have watched them motivate each other.“They’re very competitive,” said their father, Frank Falcone. “They play off each other and I think that’s one of the reasons why they’ve done so well.”“They would be done studying, but their twin is studying more, so it makes them study more,” said their mother Lisa Falcone.Good grades are not the only thing that the sisters share, they also share another set of identical twins. Justine and Lauryn said their relationship is different than that of their younger sisters.“We’re together a lot. We have a lot of the same friends and we hang out a lot,” Justine said.Frank Falcone is the deputy fire chief in Somers and Lisa Falcone is an EMT. Both Lauren and Justine volunteer as medical response technicians, an experience that has prompted them to both want to become doctors.Get an entire week of Senior Standout specials June 15-19 at 6:30 p.m. on Eyewitness News NOW.
