Students in the Amity School District won't be able to enjoy their time too much if schools close because of a flu outbreak.

The school district is preparing a Web site for students to submit homework online.

Amity High School senior Connor Deane said, "It's designed to be able to teach students at home God forbid schools had to shut down because of some flu or massive outbreak."

As schools begin to close across Connecticut, it may come in handy this year.

The Amity School District is made up of a high school and several middle schools.

On Tuesday, a school is Bethany had 125 students out sick with the flu.

The district wants to make sure no student falls behind.

Superintendent John Brady said, "We immediately began thinking about what we can do to reach out to students so they can feel comfortable dealing with illness and not fall behind on studies."

Their answer -- Moodle.

This program will require each student in the district to have a login. Once they are logged on, they can find their class, collect their assignments, complete them and submit them online.

Deane said, "Documents can be put on and videos can be posted. I think it's a great program."

Along with he new program, signs have been posted throughout the school district asking students to stay home if they don't feel well and hand sanitizers are also being distributed.
