Program Recruits Dads To Patrol Halls
Program Started In Response To Jonesboro School Shootings

WATERBURY, Conn. -- A Waterbury school is looking for fathers to walk the beat and patrol hallways. West Side Middle School has a program called Watchdog Dads and it seems to be catching on with teachers, parents and students.Rob Boulerice works as an overnight juvenile corrections officer. However, during the day he volunteers at West Side Middle School in Waterbury as a Watchdog Dad.Boulerice said, “When kids are in class I look for kids trying to miss class, causing mischief. I’m acting like an extra set of eyes for the teacher.”This is the second year that the school is using the volunteer fathers. Now, they are trying to recruit more dads and expand the program to include reading programs.
