HARTFORD, Conn. -- The film industry has had a blockbuster year in Connecticut thanks to a new incentive package offered by the state.

Hollywood has visited Connecticut three times in 2006. State tax incentives offered for film productions began being offered in July. The incentives offer a 30 percent tax credit to productions that spend more than $50,000 in Connecticut.

ESPN filmed a mini-series in Norwich this past fall, New Haven became the set of the movie "In Bloom," starring Uma Thurman and Pierce Brosnan in October, and in November, 380 cast and crew members of the film "Reservation Road" converged on Lake Compounce in Bristol.

"I think everybody feels fortunate to be filming here and those tax breaks really help out," said Erik Jenson, who plays Thurman Munson in the ESPN mini-series.

The Culture and Tourism Commission said many production companies have expressed pleasure with the tax break, and the commission said it hopes that more productions choose Connecticut as a backdrop.
