NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- People who want to take a shot at being part of the background of the fourth in the series of "Indiana Jones" movies can take advantage of an open casting call. Billy Dowd Casting is looking for paid extras for the part of the movie that is to be filmed in New Haven in a few weeks. Casting people were to be at the Omni New Haven Hotel on Temple Street Monday and Tuesday accepting head and shoulders photos. Applicants must be at least 18 years old. The film, directed by Steven Spielberg, will involve a chase down Chapel Street and through the Yale campus. Chapel Street will be transformed to look like 1957 for the scene, which will be filmed between June 28 and July 7. Barbara Lamb, director of the city's Office of Cultural Affairs, who has been coordinating the details, said she can't say for sure how many people will line up for the casting call. "I can only say that I have received more phone calls and e-mails than I care to respond to, so I am anticipating a huge crowd, but I really don't know."Channel 3 Eyewitness News reporter Dan Kain reported that hopefuls lined up out the door, down the block and around the corner Monday with headshots clutched in their hands."I have my lucky Indiana Jones hat from MGM Disney," said extra hopeful Dennis Camber Jr., from Long Island. "Maybe you'll see me in the movie for two seconds.""Nothing ventured, nothing gained," said Mike Grosso, of Stamford."What if they want someone to play a tree or a shrub?" Kain asked."Actually, I played a tree in fourth grade, so I might be right for the role," Grosso said. Fans from as far as Italy have inquired about being part of the "Indiana Jones" series.
