Eyewitness News has compiled a list of Independence Day 2008 events taking place throughout the state.

All times are after dark and some town clerks have reported rain dates for their town's events.

    • East Haddam: Sunrise Resort
    • Milford: Concert featuring American Idol contestant Josh Gracin, Connecticut Post Mall, 1201 Boston Post Road, upper level of the green garage. Admission: $1 at the door; free admission for children under 10.
    • Oxford: Oak Middle School

    July 3

    • Killingly: Owen Bell Park
    • Madison: Parade at 10 a.m.; Fireworks at 9:30 p.m. at Surf Club
    • Meriden: Castle Craig (Rain date July 10)
    • Middletown: On the Connecticut River
    • Norwalk: Calf Pasture Beach
    • Norwich: Dodd Stadium, after the Connecticut Defenders game
    • Stratford: Beach
    • West Haven: Bradley Point
    • Westport: Campo Beach (Rain date July 7)

    July 4

    • Bristol: Lake Compounce
    • Canterbury: Parade at 10:30 a.m. at Dr. Helen Baldwin School
    • Columbia: Parade at 10 a.m.
    • Fairfield: Over the water
    • Middlebury: Quassy Amusement Park
    • Mystic: 1970s Fourth Of July Celebration, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Mystic Seaport
    • Naugatuck: Naugatuck High School
    • New Britain: Stanley Quarter Park
    • New Canaan: Waveny Park, advance pass required.
    • New Haven: New Haven Harbor/Long Wharf Park
    • Simsbury: Talcott Mountain Music Festival with Hartford Symphony Orchestra, Performing Arts Center at Simsbury Meadows
    • Torrington: Torrington Middle School
    • Washington: Shepaug High School -- tickets can be purchased at Washington Town Hall in advance.
    • Waterbury: Municipal Stadium
    • Willimantic: Boombox Parade at 11 a.m.

    July 5

    • East Hartford: Riverfest
    • Hartford: Mortensen Riverfront Plaza; Charter Oak Landing; Great River Park; Founders Plaza -- entertainment begins at 4 p.m.
    • Greenwich: Binney Park
    • Groton: Groton Sub Base
    • Manchester: Manchester Community College
    • New Milford: Fort Hill Property
    • Norwich: Norwich Marina at American Wharf
    • Oxford: Oak Middle School
    • Salisbury: Lime Rock Park
    • Stafford: Summer Festival at noon; fireworks at 9 p.m.
    • Wallingford: Mark T. Sheehan High School shortly after 9 p.m.
