Two years after the state adopted a series of movie tax credits, Connecticut lawmakers continue to celebrate a boom in the state's movie business.

Channel 3 Eyewitness News reporter Eric Parker reported that there are currently 10 movies filming in Connecticut and even the biggest of Hollywood stars are being won over by the state.

Two years ago, the state's revenue from movies was about $1 million annually. It is now more than $450 million.

Movie makers credit new tax incentives for bringing productions like Disney's "Old Dogs" to the state. The movie is currently filming in Redding and features Robin Williams, Matt Dillon and John Travolta.

"Each state allows a certain opportunity to do movies, and this year -- Connecticut is winning," said Travolta.

Gov. Jodi Rell signed another package of tax incentives Thursday.

"Old Dogs" executive producer Garrett Grant said that the tax credits were the thing that brought the movie to Connecticut.

"It was the single deciding factor to be here," Grant said.

Parker reported that a production as big as "Old Dogs" spends an estimated $45,000 per day in the state.

"It's tourism, it's hotel rooms, it's meals, it's everything that goes along with that, and I have to tell you when you think in terms of economic development, it's more money in the coffers for the state of Connecticut," said Rell.

Besides the tax advantages in Connecticut, the crew said that there are location advantages as well. The Disney movie turned a state park into a Boy Scout camp.

"I think you can almost recreate anything here, so that's a good thing," Grant said.
