Principal Slated To Receive Local, National Awards

ANSONIA, Conn. -- Those who know a school principal slated to receive two awards describe her as nice and fair.Kathy Molner, principal of the Assumption School in Ansonia, was Channel 3's Everyday Hero of the week on Friday, a brand new weekly series on Eyewitness News.Channel 3's Scot Haney reported Molner is about to receive the Distinguished Principal in the Archdiocese of Hartford Award and a national award given by the National Catholic Education Association that recognizes Molner as one of their best principals."I'm a product of Assumption School ... I graduated from Assumption School. I love it," Molner said.Molner graduated in 1965 before returning to teach in 1973. For 15 years, Molner taught a variety of grade levels at the private Catholic school."She's a very dedicated person and a very special person in our Assumption School family," said the Rev. George Burnett, of the Assumption School. "She works very, very hard, dedicated to all the kids in the school.""I'm overwhelmed, I'm overwhelmed by all of this attention," Molner said.
