Dennis House, a native New Englander and Emmy award-winning journalist, co-anchors Eyewitness News at 6 and 11.

Since joining Channel 3 in 1992, he has traveled extensively to cover breaking news events and find the Connecticut angle for the viewers at home.

Dennis reported live from Manhattan on Sept. 11, 2001, talking with Connecticut survivors of the terrorist attack in New York. In 1993, he had covered the bombing of the World Trade Center.

In 2002, Dennis was the only reporter from Hartford to travel to Rome to cover the historic sex abuse meeting between the Cardinals of America and Pope John Paul II.

Among the big stories Dennis has brought home to Connecticut include the O.J. Simpson trial in 1995, the U.S. visit of Pope John Paul II in 1995, the TWA crash and Olympic bombing in 1996, the Florida wildfires in 1998, the UConn Huskies' trip to the Final Four in 1999, the death of John F. Kennedy Jr. in 1999 and the Republican and Democratic conventions in 2000.

Dennis won an Emmy award in 1997 and has been nominated for several others, including three for anchoring.

Dennis previously anchored what was then Eyewitness News Daybreak in the mid 1990s, during which time the program became Connecticut's No. 1 morning news broadcast.

He got his start in television news at WPRI-TV in Providence, R.I., and then moved on to become the assignment manager at WMUR-TV in Manchester, N.H. From there, he went to WREX-TV in Rockford, Ill., where he worked as a weekend anchor. He was also a weekend sports anchor and news reporter at WWMT-TV in Grand Rapids, Mich.

Dennis, born and raised in Norwood, Mass., holds a bachelor's degree in foreign affairs from Assumption College. He lives in the SoDo neighborhood of downtown Hartford with his wife, Eyewitness News anchor Kara Sundlun. The two are very involved in the renaissance of the capital city along with many charities.

He has described his job as "awesome," saying, "I love journalism and I love television. I feel very blessed to have a job that allows me to meet so many people, both here in Connecticut and beyond."
