The state Department of Veterans' Affairs has developed a video memorial to remember the men and woman of Connecticut who have died in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The memorial is titled The Faces of Connecticut Fallen and is an effort to highlight the sacrifice veterans from Connecticut have made in Iraq and Afghanistan.

  • Remember: Connecticut's Hometown Heroes
  • Names and faces of the 42 men and women killed while serving the country are displayed on a wall of graphics.

"I think it's very tastefully done. I think it's very solemn, very respectful of men and women who served and died in Iraq and Afghanistan," said James Felice, of West Hartford.

Singer Norah Jones gave the department her permission to use her version of the song American Anthem in the memorial.

The exhibit is called a traveling tribute and will visit each of the state's eight counties in the course of the year.

"A lot of people have stopped … I think it's the music and the flags from all the different services … and all of a sudden they realize these are not just names, these are faces, these are who we've lost and in West Hartford, we've lost three of them," said Chris Dabrowski.
