This past week, Waterbury Police were on the hunt for the Brass City's most wanted.

An Eyewitness News crew followed a team of six detectives and two sergeants as they searched for nine men and women on the run from police.

"They give us multiple addresses during booking," said Sgt. Mike Ponzillo of the fugitives. "It's like a guessing game."

Police are often led to several false addresses during their search and question countless neighbors. They also hear a number of alibis.

Eventually, after seven stops, police find Chris Polchies, wanted on charges of second-degree assault. While being handcuffed, he claimed his innocence.

Police later took Charlene Evans into custody. Evans is accused of stabbing a man during a dispute.

"It's never routine," Ponzillo said. "You never know what to expect."

Waterbury police enlisted the help of Eyewitness News views to locate three outstanding fugitives:

Shawn Minnifield

Lance Byrd

Anyone with information on the fugitives, is urged to call the Fugitive Files tip line by dialing 866-539-WFSB.
