Group Offering Free Eye Care At Fair
Group Says Hispanics More Likely To Suffer From Eye Disease

HARTFORD, Conn. -- A group of local optometrists was providing free eye care at a Hispanic health fair in Hartford.Members of the Connecticut Association of Optometrists were giving free screenings at the Hispanic Health Council building on Main Street on Thursday. The fair was scheduled from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.The fair marked the sixth year since the group became involved. The CAO was also providing visitors with referrals for specialty care and helping them to purchase discounted eyewear.CAO said that, according to recent studies, Latinos living in the United States have high rates of eye disease and visual impairment."The Hispanic Health Fair is a great opportunity to discuss the importance of visual health with a local population that is greatly under-served when it comes to eye care," said Executive Director of CAO Bebra Toupence.
