Kegwin Middle School in Middletown will remain closed for the remainder of the week because of H1N1 concerns, Middletown health officials said.

They said a large number of students are absent with flu-like symptoms.

School officials said that 40 percent of the student body was out with flu-like symptoms on Monday.

Officials also said that there was a school dance that took place on Friday night, and may have had an impact on the number of students who got sick.

Middletown's health director said that the only way that they can stem the spread of the virus is to vaccinate all of the students.
