POSTED: 12:44 am EDT September 15, 2007

An early-season showdown put fifth-ranked Shelton against eighth-ranked West Haven at home on Friday night.

Legendary West Haven Blue Devils coach Ed McCarthy was back on the field despite some off-season legal troubles.

Video Highlights: Shelton vs. West Haven

West Haven was behind to start the second half, but in the first play from scrimmage, Mike Brockenberry headed 78 yards down the field, just two yards shy of the end zone.

The Blue Devils would convert soon after and got as close at 21-18 in the third quarter, but the rest of the night was all about the Shelton Gaels.

Andre Henderson ran in a touchdown for six more points.

Moreover, the stud running back for the Gaels is Geoff Schultz, who went 25 yards for the touchdown.

It was not close down the stretch as Shelton made a statement win, 49-24.
