After missing the playoffs a year ago, traditional powerhouse Daniel Hand appears to be back this year.

The Daniel Hand Tigers headed into the Cheshire Rams' house on Friday night, threatening to break into the state top 10.

The teams played before a standing-room only big crowd on both sides of the field.

By the half, the Tigers led 16-0. Then, Cheshire's Tim Flood scored a 7-yard touchdown run to -put the Rams on the board at 16-6.

Cheshire went for a two-point conversion and got the ball to a wide open player. Daniel Hand stayed on top at the end of the third quarter, 16-8.

During the first play of the fourth quarter, Tigers' Mike Langreegor ran it in 25 yards, putting Daniel Hand up 23-8.

Later in the quarter, Cheshire made a little fake and quarterback Todd Heritage found Billy Ragone for a 66-yard touchdown. Again, another two-point conversion is good, putting the Rams closer at 23-16.

Cheshire held and had one last drive, but couldn't close it as the fourth down pass was no good.

Daniel Hand hung on to beat Cheshire, 23-16, keeping the Tigers undefeated for the season.
