Eighth-ranked Daniel Hand shocked third-ranked Shelton on Friday night.

The Shelton Gaels played without star running back Andre Henderson, who had to sit out after separating his shoulder last week in a win over Wilbur Cross (More).

Both the Gaels and the Daniel Hand Tigers entered Friday's game undefeated. The Gaels started off with a 7-0 lead, but the rest of the game's scoring belonged to the Tigers.

Tigers quarterback Nick Merullo hit Dylan Taylor on a beautiful pass and catch in the rain to tie the game at 7 at the half -- all while raindrops continued to fall.

The play of the game for Hand came in the third quarter when Merullo found senior Mike Conti for the go-ahead touchdown.

Hand tacked on 19 more points before it was all said and done at Finn Stadium, improving to 6-0 on the season with expectations to move up in The Day of New London's Top 10 Coaches Poll.

The Tigers beat the Gaels, 33-7.
