New Britain head coach Paul Morrell's heart pounded loudly on Friday -- but not only for his team's home game against Manchester.

The New Britain Golden Hurricanes led the Manchester Indians at the half.

Also during halftime, Morrell proposed to his fiancee, Michelle Mace. The proposal becomes the first on Channel 3's Friday Night Football, and Mace had nothing but good things to say about Morrell -- including "yes."

"He loves football, he loves New Britain and this is his home," Mace said. "Yes, I love football, and I love what he does. He does a lot for New Britain, and he loves his kids and he loves helping out these kids."

Early in the first quarter, New Britain quarterback Rafal Garcarz threw an 18-yard touchdown pass to Joshua Hudson. The extra point was good, putting the Golden Hurricanes up 7-0.

New Britain decided to go for it on a fourth down with eight yards to go from the 21-yard line. Garcarz got the ball to Jamal Redding to go for it all with the touchdown. The extra point was good, putting New Britain up 14-0.

The Golden Hurricanes were on the move again when Garcarz found Kenny Buxton, who fled for a 47-yard touchdown, putting New Britain up yet again, 21-0.

The Indians would get on the scoreboard late, but it wasn't enough. New Britain beat Manchester, 42-13.
