ROCKY HILL, Conn. -- The Channel 3 I-Team has learned that two registered sex offenders in Connecticut have gone missing and several others are living in temporary shelters. The I-Team began investigating gaps in the state's sex offender registry after receiving complaints from concerned parents. The parents told the I-Team they'd noticed that 21-year-old Nicolas Bryant was listed on Connecticut's sex offender registry with an address that houses the Connecticut Tractor Trailer Training School in Somers. They said the school is just down the street from a playground and school. When the I-Team checked, officials at the tractor-trailer school said Bryant is no longer a student there."The fact that they have no idea where he is now and there's a lot of kids in the area that come to the park and there's a school right over there, so, yeah, it is unnerving," said Tammy England, of Vernon. When the I-Team informed the Connecticut State Police about Bryant, troopers started looking for him. They said Bryant will be arrested if found.State police said the Connecticut registry is a model copied by other states. They said it's a valuable tool for parents, but that it's up to the offender themselves to follow the law and keep information up to date."They have to physically do it," State Police Lt. Paul Vance said. "The registrant has to physically fill out a document, sign it and return it to the registry to confirm their address.""They shouldn't be here," Mansfield resident Linda Cunningham said. "Sorry, they shouldn't be here."
