Boston Co. Recalls Cole Slaw

Cole Slaw May Be Contaminated

POSTED: 4:34 pm EST November 2, 2006

A Boston company recalled containers of cole slaw because they could be contaminated with listeria.

Boston Salads and Provisions said the recall affects containers with sell-by dates of Nov. 9 and Nov. 11.

The cole slaw was sold in 1-pound retail containers and bulk containers weighing five, 10 and 30 pounds. The company said they were sold in eight states under the brand names Boston Salads and Provisions; Dietz and Watson; and Hummel Brothers.

The states were Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania and Delaware.

Listeria is a microorganism that can cause serious and even fatal infections in children, the elderly or those with weakened immune systems.
