Storm Leads To Extension To File State Taxes
Rell Requests Federal Aid To Help Flooding Victims

HARTFORD, Conn. -- Gov. M. Jodi Rell extended the deadline for filing Connecticut tax returns because of the extensive flooding across the state.The deadline to file state taxes was extended until midnight Thursday.
Rell Tours Flooding Damage Across StateRell also requested an extension from the federal Internal Revenue Service for filing federal tax returns. As of Monday afternoon, that request had not been acted on, and the deadline remained midnight Tuesday.After touring damage throughout the state, the governor requested aid from the Federal Emergency Management Agency.The governor requested federal assistance for Connecticut homeowners, businesses and cities and towns affected by the flooding and heavy winds caused by the nor'easter."The damage I have seen today is some of the worst our state has experienced in the last 20 years," Rell said.In an on-air phone call with Eyewitness News, Rell urged anyone whose home or business had been damaged by the storm to keep a detailed account of the damage to assist with the aid application process.The storm, which began at 4 a.m. Sunday, and was expected to continue dumping rain on parts of the state through Tuesday, delivered 4 to 8 inches of rainfall across the state.
