HARTFORD, Conn. -- State consumer officials are monitoring a furniture store company's deliveries to customers. The state Department of Consumer Protection announced Tuesday that customers should remain vigilant if they have deposited money on purchases at Domain, which filed for bankruptcy last Friday.Earlier in the month, Eyewitness News spoke with Gary Weltman, of Avon, who deposited almost $2,700 on a purchase of a bed. He did not immediately receive a refund when he requested it from the store in West Hartford. The state said customers should make sure they receive everything promised to them by the delivery date specified by the store, which has locations in Brookfield, West Hartford, Milford and Stamford. If the store does not immediately resolve issues, the customer should promptly file a written complaint with the state Department of Consumer Protection and a claim in the Domain bankruptcy case (No. 08-1-0132) in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court of Delaware.Domain's distribution center's toll-free phone number is 877-436-6246.According to state officials, Epiq Systems (Link) has been designated as the claim agent for processing Domain claims. If you have any questions, contact the state Department of Consumer Protection by dialing 800-842-2649.
