GM Issues Recall On Chevrolet HHR Wagons

Vehicles Fail Side-Impact Tests

CNN announces that GM is issuing a recall of 181,000 Chevrolet HHR Wagons.

The automotive company issued the recall on wagons manufactured after they found that some vehicles do not meet government standards on protecting occupants from head injury in a crash.

The recall is on HHRs that were produced without optional roof rail-mounted airbags, which failed GM's side-impact tests. The vehicles were sold between 2006 and 2008.

In a letter to GM dealers, the automaker said dealers would need to install a piece of energy-absorbing plastic to the headliner trim.

GM said the recall will begin in late March, when the parts become available. The company will send out notification letters to customers.

Owners of the affected vehicles can contact GM at 1-800-630-2438 for additional information.
