A woman in Gales Ferry is offering free home-heating oil for a year, but with a catch.

Erika Vasell said the free oil comes with the purchase of her home.

Vasell said she wanted her home to stand out from the hundreds of others for sale in her area.

"I wanted my house to stand out from the other homes that are on the market," she said. "As we know, the market isn't the way it used to be four years ago. I wanted an incentive for buyers to stop by."

Vasell said she's seen a large increase in visitors to her open houses and that her online listing has been viewed more since she offered the free oil.

The home remained on the market on Thursday.
