MILFORD, Conn. -- A former youth basketball coach, charged with sexually assaulting a teenage girl, was arrested early Wednesday morning on charges that he violated a protective order.Milford police said Robert Dulin was pulled over for a motor vehicle infraction around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday.Police said an officer on patrol clocked Dulin's car traveling 61 mph in a 30-mph zone."When he (the officer) approached, he asked the operator for his license and registration. Robert Dulin provided all that along with indicating to the officer that he was aware that he was in violation of a protective order that was issued by the court," said Vaughan Dumas of the Milford Police Department.Channel 3 Eyewitness News reporter Leon Collins reported that the protective order was issued following charges brought against the former coach that he had a sexual relationship with an underage female basketball player.Collins reported that the court ordered that Dulin stay away from the alleged victim and potential witness prior to his upcoming trial. The order also set a curfew, which mandated Dulin must remain inside his home between the hours of 11 p.m. and 6 a.m.Collins reported that another condition of the protective order was that Dulin stay more than a mile away from the home of the female player.According to police, when stopped for his traffic violation, Dulin was half a mile away from the girl's home.Dulin was released Wednesday on $5,000 bond and is now required to wear an electronic monitoring bracelet. His case was continued to a later date.
