MERIDEN, Conn. -- Women accused of being involved with a prostitution ring that operated out of Meriden massage business for years appeared in court Thursday..

Channel 3 Eyewitness News reporter Diana Rocco reported undercover police detectives have watched the business called the Best Sauna Acupressure for nine months, saying it fronted as a massage parlor.

Detectives removed boxes of evidence and more than $8,000 in cash from the Meriden business. Police said the massage parlor offered sexual favors for money.

Rocco reported police arrested a Chinese woman and three Korean women, of which the immigration status for three of the women remains in question. Taken into custody were Cho Sun Zane, 49; Jin Aizi, 34; You Soon Ha, 44; and Joun Hee Jun, 34, all of Flushing, N.Y., according to police. Zane is charged with promoting prostitution, and the others are charged with prostitution.

Court proceedings were delayed for hours Thursday as the court searched for a Korean interpreter.

Police said men would pay a fee at the door for a massage, and when that was over, the men would negotiate a price with a madam for sexual favors.

Investigators also told Eyewitness News that the business was not registered with the city and no one at the location was licensed as a masseuse. Police said they believe illegal activity has taken place at the facility since 2003.

Rocco reported the investigation started when people complained to police of possible human trafficking. Police said they did not find evidence to support those allegations.

The four women remained held on $20,000 bond on Thursday.
