Guida Dairy Statement On Contaminated Milk
Guida's Milk & Ice Cream Co. released the following statement on March 29, 2007 at 12:13 p.m. in regard to contaminated milk sold to schools in Connecticut.
- Guida's Milk & Ice Cream Co. recalled Guida label ½% milkfat chocolate milk in half pint containers, with a product code number of 138, with an expiration date of April 13, 2007. The product may contain some food grade sanitizer. These products were distributed in Connecticut, Rhode Island, New York and Massachusetts primarily to school systems.
The company, with the help of the Connecticut Department of Agriculture, has determined this to be an isolated incident caused by human error. The only product affected by the recall is isolated to Guida label ½% milkfat chocolate milk in half pint containers, with a product code number of 138, with an expiration date of April 13, 2007. All other products have been determined safe to consume. Recalled product will be picked up and given full credit by the company.
Guida's Milk & Ice Cream Co. would also like to extend a heartfelt apology to the children and their families as well as our customers affected by this unfortunate incident. The school personnel, emergency response teams and state agencies have all worked closely to resolve this incident. The Guida Family would like to thank our loyal customers for their understanding and support during this difficult time. We take the quality of our products very seriously and are putting measures in place to avoid such incidents from reoccurring.
