NORWICH, Conn. -- Local law enforcement officers competed for the title of "SuperCop" over the weekend. The challenge originated in Norwich when the city's Police Department started a weight-loss challenge in January. The SuperCop competition comprises phase 2 of the event."The criminals out there are getting, stronger, faster and younger. We as officers, we sit around a bit in our cruisers, we're getting older, a little slower, a little weaker. You have to keep up with your physical fitness, you have to stay in the top of your game," said Officer Greg McDonald, who organized the event. The event now has a bigger motivating factor beyond official bragging rights: a $500 cash prize to the officer who wins the SuperCop title.
