MANCHESTER, Conn. -- A Connecticut cheeseburger has earned national recognition.Say the name Shady Glen east of the Connecticut River, and you're bound to hear a few stomachs rumble. The restaurant has been cooking its famous burgers for its patrons for more than a half-century.One of the Manchester restaurant's signature samplings is receiving national attention.The May issue of Esquire Magazine lists "60 Things Worth Shortening Your Life For," and includes the Shady Glen cheeseburger.The burger is named by the magazine as the Most Decadent.The magazine describes the burgers as "Four sizzling carefully arranged pieces of cheese extending far beyond the border of the patty melt … creating a chewy and much sought-after crust."The burger won the title by beating out the Belly Buster burger from Pennsylvania, which boasts 11 pounds of beef and 22 slices of cheese.
