MANCHESTER, Conn. -- Police are asking for the public's help to find a man and a woman caught on camera during a robbery of a fast-food restaurant.

Manchester police said the couple demanded money from people, and in some cases, just took it.

Police said the surveillance video shows the couple acting suspicious at a McDonald's in Manchester. The woman ordered something small and when the register opened, the man, wearing glasses and a hat, peered over the counter.

"At one point, it looked like maybe the black male suspect was going to take a swipe at register. So sometimes, it seems that they want to know what's available before it's going to be stolen," Manchester police Detective Jeffrey Lampson said.

Investigators said the couple ran a scheme that starts with intimidation.

Police said the couple was at a shopping center parking lot earlier this month when the man demanded money from a person at a gas station.

Police said that when the victim reached for a $20 bill, the man grabbed a fistful of cash and took off in a car, in which the woman was waiting.

"He was very forward and insistent, which made the victim feel very uncomfortable so I think he felt very limited in his options to say no," Lampson said.
