Brandon "Spun" Spence

A man charged with weapons possession

Hartford police Lt. Scott Sansom and officers in the Major Crimes Unit searched the streets for Spence and arrested him on June 12.

"He was shocked," Sansom said. "They got him real quick and by surprise. The officers did an excellent job."

Police said a caller told investigators where to look and Spence showed up on Garden Street in Hartford's North End.

"He's a very dangerous individual. He had seven warrants ranging from possession of drugs, operating a drug factory, weapons charges, theft of a weapon, numerous warrants. He's been on the run for while," Sansom said. "He's told people that he's going to shoot at police if confronted by police."

Sansom said featuring Spence on the Fugitive Files on Eyewitness News made the community aware of a dangerous person, and by offering an anonymous tip line, gave the people a way to help the police.

"It was great, it was excellent; It got the word out, it created a stir with people," he said. "We got many tips within the last month or two since you aired that."
