NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- The public was granted an opportunity to weigh in on their perception of the New Haven Police Department Tuesday night.A meeting held at Hill High School was meant to determine the public's views of the department after two officers were arrested on corruption charges by the FBI.Justen Kasperzyk and Lt. Billy White were arrested after months of investigation by the FBI.To curb the bad perceptions of the department, the mayor and police chief disbanded the narcotics unit and brought in a consulting team, Police Executive Research Forum, to rework the department.
The city is paying PERF $130,000 and the team should be finished with its report in July.
