Police Believe Purse Snatcher May Be Woman

UPDATED: 9:22 pm EDT June 5, 2007

Police are hoping surveillance photos will lead them to two people suspected of numerous purse snatchings in Enfield.

Channel 3 Eyewitness News reporter Kara Sundlun reported that a woman and accomplice have stolen about six handbags from shoppers in Enfield.

Police said one woman was targeted while she shucked corn at Shaw's. Police said the thief used the woman's credit card to go on a $1,000 shopping spree.

While police said they hope that new photos will lead them to the suspected thieves, they also warned shoppers to be aware of their surroundings.

"When you are at the grocery store, don't leave it unattended. Always be aware of where your pocketbook is," said Enfield Police Chief Carl Sferrazza.

Anyone with information regarding the investigation is urged to contact the Enfield Police Department by dialing 860-763-6400.
