Man On Danielle's Birth Certificate Calls Out
Cramer Said He Learned Of Girl's Disappearance From News
The man who gave his name to a girl who was discovered in a West Hartford home after being missing for a year is now reaching out to her.Michael Cramer told Eyewitness News that he didn't know that Danielle Cramer was missing until he saw it on the news.Danielle was discovered locked in a hidden room in the West Hartford home of Adam Gault last week.Cramer said he heard the 15-year-old's story and felt the need to try to contact her.Cramer told Eyewitness News that while he is not Danielle's biological father, his name is on her birth certificate and that he was a meaningful part of her life from birth until about three years ago.Cramer said that he dated Danielle's mother, Jennifer Hesse, at the time of the girl's birth and took responsibility for her."I consider her my daughter now," he said.Cramer said that he has two sons by Hesse and that his children and Danielle all live with Jennifer and her husband of 10 years, Jamie Hesse, in Bloomfield.Cramer said his relationship with Hesse ended poorly and that he hasn't seen Danielle in a few years. He said that he was unaware that she had been reported missing and that police never questioned him."I didn't know until that day, so it bothered me. I'm concerned. I love her and she's been my daughter up until three years ago, four years ago," Cramer said.Cramer showed Eyewitness News old Christmas snapshots and school pictures of Danielle and said that he doesn't know how or if he'll ever see the girl he considers his daughter again."I just want her to know that there's another half of her family that loves and cares for her and I love and care for her. If she needs a shoulder to cry on or someone to hug her and tell here they love her … I hope it's me," he said. "I hope I can be part of making things right for her."The Department of Children and Families is currently investigating Danielle's disappearance along with police and the FBI.Channel 3 Eyewitness News reporter Jamie Roth reported that Danielle is slowly being reintroduced to her family. Her mother has visited her daily since police found her. Her stepfather was reintroduced to her on Friday and this week, her siblings were taken to see her.
