UPDATED: 6:54 pm EDT June 20, 2007

A Tolland man is facing charges for the fourth time in less than a year amid allegations of inappropriate contact with underage girls.

Scott Shefelbine was arrested on suspicion of having an online relationship with a 14-year-old West Hartford girl.

According to court documents, "Scott told her he is 17 years old and lives with his dad in West Hartford."

Channel 3 Eyewitness News reporter Eric Parker reported that Shefelbine, 32, lives with his parents in Tolland.

Police said the 14-year-old girl said that online chatting progressed to visits at her house during which Shefelbine kept trying to kiss her and that she was "disturbed and bothered that he had kissed her when she did not want to be kissed."

Parker reported that in the past 10 months, Shefelbine has been arrested in connection with similar behavior several times.

On Oct. 10, Shefelbine was charged with sexual assault, accused by Vernon police of having sex with five minors after giving them alcohol.

Parker reported that just over a week later, Shefelbine was charged with similar crimes in West Hartford, accused by police of forcing a girl to have sex with him.

In November, he was arrested by state police in connection with sexual assault.

In each case, police said, Shefelbine portrayed himself as a teenager.

Court documents show that while police said Shefelbine was visiting the 14-year-old in West Hartford, he was wearing an electronic monitoring bracelet that was part of his release on the other charges.

The previous cases against Shefelbine are pending. In each case, he posted bail and was released.

In the most recent case, Shefelbine posted $100,000 bail and is scheduled to be arraigned on July 5.
