A 16-year-old boy was arrested Wednesday and charged with fatally shooting a store owner earlier this month, police said.

Robert Watts Spann, of New Haven, was charged with felony murder, robbery in the first degree, larceny in the second degree and weapons charges. He was being held on $2 million bond.

Ricardo Beamon, 28, was shot June 2 outside his store, Yuppy Boutique, and died from his injuries.

Police said Beamon was closing his store for the night when he was shot and killed.

"We would like to thank members of the community who came forward and helped the New Haven Police Department in this investigation," said Sgt. Lisa Dadio.

New Haven police said the motive was robbery and no additional arrests are expected.
