Three Arrested In Bloomfield After Chase

Suspects Possibly Connected To Hartford Shooting

UPDATED: 7:48 pm EDT June 26, 2007

Police arrested three people on Tuesday afternoon after a chase through Hartford that ended at a church parking lot in Bloomfield.

Investigators said the arrests come after someone fired shots in Hartford on Monday night in which no one was injured. Police chased a car after the shooting but ultimately lost track of it.

Channel 3 Eyewitness News reporter Jamie Roth reported police found a car on Tuesday and said that occupants fired shots from the vehicle during the chase. Police said they believe the same car might be connected to Monday night's shooting, but investigators have not yet confirmed that.

"Officers got information (Tuesday) morning as to where the car might be and that the operator and/or passengers were in possession of at least one firearm," said Hartford Police Deputy Chief Neil Dryfe, who commands HPD's North Division.

Police said officers found the car in Hartford's North End on Tuesday, where another chase ensued, leading officers into Bloomfield. Police boxed in the car and arrested three men who were inside the vehicle.

"We did not recover the weapon," Dryfe said. "We're actually canvassing a couple of areas in Hartford where the pursuit initiated. There's a possibility that a firearm was thrown out at the beginning at the pursuit."

Officers continued to question the three men into the late afternoon, trying to ascertain whether a gun exists somewhere and whether there's a connection between Monday night's shooting and Tuesday's chase.
