New Haven ID Cards To Become Available

City Announces Date For Issuance

POSTED: 12:44 pm EDT July 3, 2007

Identification cards for undocumented immigrants will be available to New Haven residents on July 24, city officials said.

The city voted last month to approve the cards, which will provide access to libraries, parks, beaches and golf courses.

The Elm City Resident Card is also set to allow cardholders to load $150 and use it as a debit card at participating stores and parking garages in downtown New Haven.

Cards cost $10 for adults and $5 for children. Applicants must provide identification and proof of residence to City Hall.

For more information, residents can call the city by dialing 203-946-7909.
