Police: 5 Pounds Of Pot Found In Car Trunk

Officer Says Cocaine Fell Out Of Driver's Pocket

Police said that a Thursday traffic stop led to the discovery of 5 pounds of marijuana.

An officer attempted to stop the car on Bowen Street in Hamden for a having darkly tinted windows, according to police.

Police said the driver initially refused to stop, but then eventually stopped on Dixwell Avenue.

The car's driver, Travor Dixon, 19, of New Haven, was driving without a license, registration or insurance card, according to police.

Police said when Dixon stepped out of the car, a bag of crack cocaine fell from his pocket. The estimated street value of the drug was $250, according to police.

A search of Dixon's car revealed more than 5 pounds of marijuana in the trunk, worth an estimated $44,800 on the street, according to police.

Dixon was arrested and faces numerous charges including possession of narcotics with intent to sell.

He is being held on a $100,000 bond and is expected to appear in Meriden court on Aug. 17.
