Amtrak Train Strikes, Kills Man

North Haven Police Find Body Behind Hotel

A train struck and killed a man in North Haven late Thursday night.

Authorities have not yet released the identity of the man as they continue to investigate why he was on the tracks when the train approached.

Channel 3 Eyewitness News reporter Katy Zachry reported that more than 120 people were aboard train No. 148 from Washington, D.C., bound to Springfield, Mass.

The train struck the man at about 9 p.m. behind the Holiday Inn and was held about a several hundred yards away from the scene for about two hours.

Police said the victim was killed instantly. No one aboard the train was reported injured.
