UPDATED: 6:52 pm EDT September 13, 2007

A Cheshire police officer has been accused of sexually assaulting his teen baby sitter.

The 15-year-old sitter told police that the alleged assault happened while she was watching Officer Robert Regan's four daughters.

Regan, a Cheshire officer, husband and father, turned himself in to police after learning of the charges brought against him.

According to an eight-page affidavit in the investigation, the girl claims Regan fondled her and encouraged her to get piercings in private areas.

On one occasion, the teen told police that Regan came out of the bathroom wearing only a towel and told her to pull it off.

The teen also gave police a pair of black fuzzy handcuffs that she claimed Regan showed to her.

According to the affidavit, Regan also made comments in front of the girl's friends, who also gave statements to police.

Regan is charged with fourth-degree sexual assault and risk of injury to a minor.

Regan denies the allegations. He is due back in court on Sept. 19.
