HARTFORD, Conn. -- A violent struggle in Hartford led to reports of an officer being shot, according to police.Police said that while no shots were fired, a man was arrested in connection with the assault of a police officer.Hartford police said the female officer was working with a task force that was attempting to serve an arrest warrant on someone else."It was a physical struggle, and we believe the officer and the suspect ended up going down the stairs as well," said Assistant Chief Brian Heavren.Police said the officer and the suspect were fighting when they tumbled down a set of stairs and out the building's front door.People in the area said that they thought they heard gunshots and said that the officer emerged from the building covered in blood.Police said they received multiple calls of a shot officer, but said the complaint was erroneous."They (the officers) were really hustling. I almost got hit by one because it was unmarked and I didn't know what to do and he was coming so fast, then he turned his siren on," said Hartford resident Edward Johnson.Police said they are unsure why the man began struggling with the officer and that he wasn't the person the task force was serving a warrant on.Neighbors told Eyewitness News that the man, whom they identified as Diego, is an undocumented immigrant from Brazil.Police said an investigation is ongoing.
