MIDDLEFIELD, Conn. -- An early-morning fire in Middlefield destroyed a garage and thousands of dollars worth of tools and equipment on Sunday.Walter Martancik, the homeowner, said he would have never known the structure was on fire if it wasn't for his two dogs. Martancik said Ruby and Jack kept barking to wake him up.Martancik estimated that the total loss somewhere between $100,000 and $200,000.The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
