MIDDLETOWN, Conn. -- Several residents in condominium complexes in Middletown received letters Monday that have warned of recent car break-ins.Channel 3 Eyewitness News reporter Hena Daniels reported residents of the Middletown Brook development received the letter. The letter from management says cars in the parking lots are being targeted for their Global Positioning Satellite systems and satellite radio devices."It's very bad," said Sylvia Segovia, a resident of the complex. "It's supposed to be a safe neighborhood. I always leave things in the car. I have to take everything out."Michelle Manorolla said it has happened to at least three of her neighbors."They broke into the car, smashed the windows, stole the GPS, left the iPod and checkbook," she said.Police patrols have increased in the complex, and management has warned tenants to remove anything valuable from their cars. They also recommend locking both car and apartment doors."It would be nice if management was more proactive with lighting," Manorolla said."Things happen when you're in a complex. You have a lot of cars, you have a lot of people, you are going to be vandalized," said Nate Hoswell, a resident of the complex.Eyewitness News tried to contact the management of the complex, but the office did not return Channel 3's calls.
